Organisational Structure
Shining Life Children’s Trust is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee in the
United Kingdom. The Trust is also registered as a charity in Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, the work of the
Trust is managed by a Field Director. The Field Director is a volunteer recruited in the UK who
works in Sri Lanka for 1-2 years.The Trust is run by a board of voluntary Trustees who all bring
separate skills to the board as well as a passion for the work of the Trust and a deep desire to
make a difference. The Trustees are:

Juliet Brown
Juliet is secretary and founder of Shining Life Children’s Trust and has guided
and driven the organisation to the position it is now, with 3 successful projects
currently running, and previous ones being continued by the local communities. |

Jimmy Newall
As Treasurer, Jimmy provides the Trustees with regular financial statements,
helping us manage our income and expenditure and ensuring the maximum
value goes to our projects in Sri Lanka.

Jonathan Bailey
Jonathan is a founder Trustee of Shining Life Children’s Trust, with
responsibility for communicating with the Friends of the Trust. He worked for
Oxfam for many years, and is now a primary school teacher in central London.

Raja Dasgupta
Raja spent two years in Sri Lanka as our Field Director, where he
contributed to the establishment of the Trust as a highly effective NGO in the
country. Most notably, Raja was caught up in the tsunami of Boxing Day 2004,
where his expertise was invaluable for directing resources to communities that
had been cut-off.

Louise Hardy
Louise was a Trustee for over 5 years. She has taken part in a number of
sponsored events raising money for the Trust, including marathons and trekking
to Everest Base camp. She worked for many years at UBS Bank.

Stella Brown
Stella has worked in Sri Lanka, teaching English in a tea-plantation school
during a gap year from university. She now works in travel public relations. |
