Join us for a Charity Cycle Challenge in North Norfolk

Weekend of 11th and 12th June 2011

Cycle around the country lanes of North Norfolk for Shining Life Children’s Trust and have a great day out too!

After two very successful sponsored cycle rides around the Isle of Wight and the Solent, we invite you to join us in a different part of the UK for this year’s event.

The 100km route will take in picturesque North Norfolk villages and stunning scenery. The route will be varied and interesting but, of particular interest for the less regular cyclists, predominantly flat!

We estimate that the route will take approximately 8 hours.

Our base for the weekend will be the Youth Hostel at Wells next the Sea. Originally housing the village’s church rooms, it is now a comfortable, well furnished hostel with good communal areas.

What will you be raising money for? Well, Shining Life Children’s Trust has started a new development project in the Kandy District in Sri Lanka. The Trust is working with a well established NGO in Kandy, the Women’s Development Centre, to help improve the lives of children in low income families in the three villages of Pupuressa, Ulapane and Kadungannawa. Find out more at on the Kandy project page.

The cost of the weekend will be £75.00 per person, plus an additional £15 for those who need to hire bicycles. We do not make a profit from this, so in order for us to ensure we raise money for the Trust we ask you to commit to raising a minimum of £50.00, although we hope that this challenge will capture the imaginations of your potential sponsors so that you can easily raise more!

The cost includes:

For those not requiring accommodation please contact us for the cost of participating.

The hostel in Wells is situated in a quiet part of the village and has good car parking and cycle storage facilities. If you intend travelling by public transport, please contact us for details of transfers from Kings Lynn rail station.

Saturday will be dedicated to the cycle ride (which we need to start early) and an evening of enjoyable company, a fish and chip supper, swapping stories and resting sore limbs! On Sunday your time is your own again to relax and explore the local area before returning home.

If you would like to participate in this adventurous challenge then please download and return this form to the e-mail address given on the form by the 31 March 2011 in order to secure your place for the weekend. We will then send you a fundraising pack to help you get started.

We want to make this cycle accessible to as many Friends of the Trust and others as possible. Please use this as a fun weekend away – a time to meet new people who share your interest in cycling or for a reunion of a group of friends you have not seen for a while. You can enjoy great company, stunning countryside, and a wonderful sense of achievement. And there is also the satisfaction of raising money for a good cause!

We look forward to you joining us for this challenge.
