Charity Cycle Challenge through the Lee Valley Regional Park and Epping Forest

Saturday 10th June 2017

To book your place please click the button on the right which will take you to Paypal to complete the transaction.

This year our Cycle Challenge is brought closer to London taking you through two of London's most unique natural environments: the Lee Valley Regional Park and Epping Forest. We invite you to join us in exploring the rich diversity and heritage of these wonderful spaces and help us raise vital funds for Shining Life Children’s Trust's new project in the Anuradhapura region of Sri Lanka.

Epping Forest is the largest public open space in the London area and a magnificent place to experience nature, wildlife, history and heritage amongst its diverse landscapes of open grasslands, woodlands and ponds. Stretching from the River Thames up to Ware in Hertfordshire, the Lee Valley Pathway wends its way through 25 miles of wetlands, canal-paths, farmland and industrial heritage, and offers spectacular hill-top vistas.

We have devised 3 routes to suit your cycling experience and fitness levels, all of which guide you along a variety of cycle, canal and shared paths as well as country roads and heritage trails. In addition each route offers a wide range of interesting resting places along the way to further explore the area's history, heritage and nature, including ancient Waltham Abbey, the Epping Forest Visitor Centre and Queen Elizabeth I's Hunting Lodge, a splendid Tudor grandstand built by Henry VIII in 1543.

Route 1: The 100 km+ Lee Valley/Epping Forest Total Challenge!

This route takes you almost the entire length of the Lea Valley Pathway, from Walthamstow Marshes in the south to Ware in the north, then winds you through picturesque B-roads before bringing you home through the centre of Epping Forest.

Route 2: The 50 km Lee Valley/Epping Forest Combo Challenge!

This route takes you halfway up the Lea Valley Pathway exiting through the historic town of Waltham Abbey before bringing you home through the centre of Epping Forest

Route 3: The 20 km Epping Forest Off-Road Family Challenge!

This route is entirely off-road, and may therefore better suit younger children and families or walkers! It follows the Epping Forest Centenary Path through open grasslands and wooded trails.

What will you be raising money for? Shining Life Children’s Trust works to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka. Through working with families and the communities in which they live we aim to build a sustainable and brighter future for the children. Money raised in the 2017 Cycle Challenge will go towards our new £30 000 safe drinking water project in the Anuradhapura region of Sri Lanka to:

The entry fee for the Cycle Challenge is just £20, which includes send-off refreshments and a celebration barbecue at the end of your challenge. We do not make a profit from this, so in addition we ask you to commit to raising a minimum of £100.
